Reclaiming Software as a Craft

Friday, Aug 8 3:15 PM - 4:15 PM Junior Ballroom A

Description

At the start of the agile revolution, there was a very strong focus on software development being a "craft". This movement described practices and philosophies that grew and evolved, but created a strong engineering mindset that was the basis of tremendous software development cultures. While many of us still adhere to these philosophies, they are not the de facto standard that most of us would expect. This talk is an attempt to capture highlights of those principles to get newer programmers focused on the art of software development as much as fulfilling requirements that are passed to them.
